Website

So I've been thinking super hard about a website. Like, a real, pay for your hosting website. I'm not sure if that will get the KurtzCraft name out there any faster, but I can sure as heck try! I'm jobless and it's making my husband nervous. I'm waiting on God's timing, but there isn't anything in the Bible that says I can't follow dreams while waiting on God's timing.
I dream of crafts, posted and sold, I dream of being my own boss, I dream of the house being clean after I've done my "job" for the day. It's all sparkly and sappy, but it's my dream, and I want to follow it.

WHOS WITH ME?!

God, Tutorials, Fabric

So my crafty sense has gone into overdrive, and I'm itching to start too many projects at once!!! I'm making a sweater cuff and a duct tape wallet, and I've made a whole line of earrings (which more will be added to as the inspiration hits)

I need to spend some time with God. I have a bad attitude today and I'm going to ask him to fix it. I'll do a little reading, do a little praying, and do a little meditation.

Fabric, fabric, fabric! I own lots of fabric with no real purpose for most of it... I must dig through it to give some to Maya, she just had a baby a few weeks ago and I want to brighten her stash. (Not to mention she let me dig through hers and take some choice pieces)

Oh, and I am thinking about posting a tutorial twice a month, once a week, whatever strikes the fancy... What do you think?

What are you itching to learn how to do? How often should I post new tutorials?

Facebook Ad

Well, apparently lots of people saw the fb ad, I was charged my entire budget for the three day run, which the tutorial assured me usually didn't happen. I just hope it did something for me, I spent $30 on that 3 day ad. It would definately help if I add more to my store, which will happen Monday. I'll be a busy craft bee! Well, off to bed so I'm not sleepy in church. Good night!

iPods, Etsy, and More

So this is the first blog post I've written from my iPod. Yay!

I posted some earrings, a print, and a neckwarmer. I'll be posting more items next week. etsy.com/people/KurtsCrafts
Also, I have an ad on Facebook! Please let me know if you see it!

I am without work once again, but I am confident that God will provide. I've always wanted a business, so Etsy is definately a great beginning!

Vacation Over

Well, we've returned from vacation, and I have a list of things to do longer than my arm. =) First on my agenda (after work of course) is to go over to Scrap Tales in Brighton, MI. They're closing and I want to give them a fairwell and take advantage of the 40% closing sale!

Must make dinner, I believe the hub requested Steak

Then, I need to fix my home PC. I've either been posting from my work computer on lunch, or my laptop. I really, really, really miss my PC, and I now have the disc to fix the poor confused hard drive.

List of other things to accomplish:

  • Clean my craft area, then organize

  • Organize and get rid of clothes that I'll never fit into again

  • make jewelry

  • order bird toy pieces (to make bird toys, yay! Neo has a thing for these cheap )

  • Start reading the book of Hebrews and work on my bible study lesson from The Shelter of God's Promises, by Sheila Walsh. We're working on The Promise of Hope this week, which is a big one for me. I should also go to Fowlerville UB's website and listen to the last two sermons I missed!

  • Love on my Husband

  • Sleep!!!

  • Scrapbook

  • Order more prints (I get a million e-mails on what mail order service is offering free/low price prints)

  • go to the fowlerville fair and take night pictures of the rides =)

Brimming with Creativity

I was squirming in my seat at work, positively brimming with creativity. I had all these great ideas on replay in my head. They got more vivid on the drive home. As soon as I walked in the door, they ALL disappeared!! All of em. Every last one. *sigh*

I need a way to remember all my amazing ideas in detail. Damdamdoubledam...

Maybe if I make some progress this weekend, I do a little crafty posting... I hope.

Selling Yourself

Selling Yourself... Or, selling your products.

I am an etsy seller, and my products just weren't selling. At first I was feeling like I made crap. Then I thought hard about it, and realized I wasn't selling myself. I have subscribed to the blogness that relates to etsy, and some of their tips are amazing.

Here is today's wisdom from April, guest blogger at heartmadeblog.com

She pretty much sums selling yourself up as sharing your story, your passion, and your higher purpose, but she cuts it across a lot better than me. =)

Introductions

Well, I figured I would take this opportunity to lay some things out upon the table.

I was born Melissa Marie Adams, in Farmington Hills, MI. I was raised half in Walled Lake, MI and half in Byron, MI. I've also lived in Fenton and Haslett, both in Michigan. I currently live with my husband and our roommate in Howell, MI. (Not really a roommate when he has his own room, but ya know...)

I graduated from Byron High School, attended Lansing Community College for a while, and am currently struggling along at ITT Tech in Swartz Creek.

I've worked fast food, sit down restaurants, craft stores, Wal-mart, a payday advance store, a packaging company, and currently a staffing agency.

I have an African Gray Parrot named Neo and a Ball Python that doesn't have a name. I rescued him and am trying to find the little snake a home.

My parents have another African Gray named Rosey, and a Redcrested Amazon Parrot named Turk. We were supposed to be babysitting Turk, but his original owner never claimed him. It's been around two years now. *shrug* We're happy, we love him. We used to have dogs who passed on after long, happy lives. Spike was a black and white Rat Terrier, and Choppers a redish brown and white pitbull. I miss them dearly, but don't think I want anymore dogs.

I've also owned many gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, another Ball Python that I gave back to my ex, cats that I rescued, and parakeets galore. I can't remember a time when I haven't owned a parakeet. My husband isn't too keen on parakeets, so I left little LB with my parents. LB stands for Little Bird, creative huh?

I like heavy metal, classic rock and alternative. I appreciate some pop and dance music as well. I'm not too keen on country or soft rock. I like to listen to some classical and jazz too.

I'm pretty crafty, but I have a sort of attention problem with my projects. I'll start one, get about half way through, then start another one, afraid I'll forget about the super cool idea I have to try that instant. Yeah, my brain really works like that.

I can sew, crochet/knit (not well), paint, bake, draw, scrapbook and all other manner of papercrafts. I do well with making greeting cards, they are short projects I can usually complete fairly quickly. I can also sculpt with clay.

I like to write, and keep starting a novel, but never finish. The story either fizzles out, or I forget what I was going to write. Did I mention I'm scatter-brained?

I love to read. I will sit down and devour an entire 500 page novel if alotted the time.

TV doesn't interest me too much, but the Food Network and Animal Planet are good. I'd watch HBO and Cinemax if I got them, but that package was too expensive. *shrugs* whatever I really want to watch I can look up online, or rent the season DVDs.

There is probably more I think you should know, so maybe I'll post it at a later time.
